HUMAN K-61E5X Speaker Kit

The classic EPI and Epicure "module" speakers came basically in two flavors - the eight-inch two-way systems, and the six-inch two-ways. The smaller six-inch systems were equally wonderful, and often small enough to fit almost anywhere.
In later years the Epicure line deviated a lot from the classic module that was designed and worked so brilliantly. However, it is possible to rebuild both the (later) Epicure 5 and the Epicure 4 into that configuration. These are the models whose cabinets have sides that angle inwards towards the front. This file is about the kit for the 5, the six-inch two-way.
The K-61E5X is a complete kit for rebuilding a pair of these speakers. This makes that speaker into a phenomenally better one. We are going "back to the first classic design" and then forward 3, 4, even 5 generations of parts improvements, and putting all that into a very, very well-made cabinet. The original vent is tuned correctly for the rebuilt woofer, making these into the speaker Epicure should have been building.
The tweeter is built on a 4-3/4" by 3-1/4" faceplate (the PRO 002 ME2) and drops right in the place of the original.
The input terminal/crossover/wiring assembly (the ACC 004 N) is built on a round cup that screws right in place of the old one.
The woofer for this speaker was originally built on a uniquely-shaped basket. While it is possible to install a new PRO 007 in its place, this leaves previously unexposed veneer showing, along with the old mounting screw holes. So what I do is rebuild the original chassis using the same set of moving ("soft") parts. This is the PRO 029, and it performs wonderfully. This does require that you send the old woofers to me when you place your order so I can rebuild them. That process these days tends to involve treating the rust that has developed under the glue holding the original surround and spider (the rear suspension, that yellowish accordian-like fabric piece) and painting to maintain their performance for decades to come.

I do not typicall include new screws for this kit, as you will still have the wonderfully annoying Allen-head ones that came with them.
