XTR 006:
Magnet Structure "Potting"
$15.00 each
This is something that Genesis Physics used to do on their top-of-the-line models 44 and 66. It was intended to make the physical relationship between the magnet structure and the basket even more rigid and well damped. They used to glue a cardboard ring on the chassis and then partly fill it with epoxy.
I do the same thing except I am using a polyurethane compound designed for filling gaps in concrete floors, because it is easier to handle. This option is available on all six, eight, and ten inch woofers I build, for DIY projects and also for EPI and Genesis replacements.
Here is a photograph an eight inch woofer I prepared this way using a PVC ring:

I found a place in Georgia that can make me more cardboard rings for this, so that's how I'll be doing it from now on. The ring height is set so virtually the entire magnet structure is buried in the filler compound.
