HUMAN K-66 Speaker Kit
$528.00 / pair

(back to kit/legacy projects)

If you want to build a tall narrow tower speaker, with strong bass response and the acoustic center focused on the tweeter location, the HUMAN 66 kit is a great way to do so.

Each one features two of my hand-built woofers and one aluminum concave dome tweeter, offering great power handling, frequency response, and clarity.

The crossover used in the HUMAN 66 is just a single high quality film type ten microfarad capacitor in series with the tweeter. The woofers are wired in series with each other.

Details:

Interior volume: about 1.25 cubic feet is recommended, after allowing for braces.

Bracing: I would advise a "shelf" type brace between each woofer and the tweeter, and below the lower woofer at least. If the upper woofer is close enough to the top, one would not be needed there. If there is a substantial amount of cabinet below the lower woofer, another brace below it would be a good idea. The more the merrier, of course, and it is best to space them somewhat irregularly.

Driver position: The drivers are arranged in a vertical array, with the tweeter offset slightly from the center line (mirror-image this arrangement in your pair). The woofers are as close to the tweeter vertically as is practical. There probably is not room on the baffle to offset the woofers.

The HUMAN 66 Kit includes:

4 PRO 008 woofers
2 PRO 002 M2 tweeter
2 Terminal cup with gold plated 5-way binding posts
2 Complete crossover and wiring harness (usually mounted to the terminal cup)
Screws to install all parts
Grill pegs and sockets
Basic instruction sheet (and telephone/email support)

You provide:

The cabinet
The grill, if desired
Internal damping material (e.g. fiberglass, polyester, etc.)

A photo of all these parts would go here if I had one!

It is basically like two sets of HUMAN C2 parts, though. The crossover is typically mounted on the input cup, though.
