Ian built a theater system using five separate HUMAN K-61 kits over the winter of 2015-2016. These all feature variously designed dual-function stands.
He sent me a handful of photographs of them.
"The theater kits are 61s.
"All five of them were built from leftover 3/4 MDF from the [1000] towers, entertainingly enough. These also have 1/4" oak veneer ply on the outside and 3/4" solid oak quarter round for the edges. All of them are run off a 200Wx5 Emotiva whatsit (that's what fits under the center channel, 70lbs to hold it down).
"All three fronts are 0.75 ft^3, the two surround channels are 0.5. It needs some EQ to fill the space and to make up for not having eights, but there's just so damn much power available it really doesn't matter."
