The White Burhoe: Classical Purity - Practical Economy
The White Burhoe is an example of the way each Burhoe Acoustics loudspeaker design is optimized for a particular listening environment. The White was conceived as an ideal compact bookshelf unit for classical music.
If you demand superbly uniform response and good efficiency in a compact package at the lowest possible price, then the White was designed for you.
The bass response of the White is essentially flat all the way down to 35 Hz - a remarkable achievement for a speaker that is less than two feet tall. That response means, for example, that the White can handle the many voices of a fugue like few other speakers of any size
High-frequency response is even more impressive. In fact, the White is the least expensive speaker on the market to incorporate the revolutionary Burhoe biradial tweeter. That means that the White can deliver frequencies as high as 26,000 Hz. Since you have probably never heard a speaker with this kind of high-frequency performance, we believe that only by listening to the White can you appreciate what the presence of the higher harmonics - absent from ordinary music reproduction - does for your over-all enjoyment of your favorite music.
Although the design of the White sacrifices some efficiency for the sake of improved bandwidth, it can still be driven adequately by amplifiers that deliver as little as 15 watts per channel. For the serious music listener with either limited space or limited budget, there is no better choice than the White Burhoe.
